This dataset contains 2023 data for cities. All data included in the dataset is self reported by cities through the 2023 Cities Questionnaire. Please note that the reporting platform remains open for submissions until the end of the year and the dataset is updated daily to reflect new submissions. Complete open data set for companies that responded to the 2014 water questionnaire.

Through our water program we target the largest listed companies in the world, as determined by market capitalization, in sectors for which water is a material issue. We currently cover the Global 500, S&P 500 and FTSE 100 indices as well as the largest companies in Australia, Japan and South Africa.

Water is also incorporated into CDP’s supply chain program. In this initiative, large multinational companies (our supply chain members) issue CDP’s water questionnaire to a number of their suppliers. This exercise allows companies to investigate the water risk in their supply chain and gather vital information about water use outside their direct operations.

This year, we have invited approximately 2,300 companies to respond to CDP’s water questionnaire through our water program. This data set excludes private responders.

Cities are responsible for 75% of global greenhouse gas emissions. The transition to a sustainable economy will be won or lost in our cities. Explore how cities across the globe are working to measure their city-wide emissions, a vital first step towards taking ambitious climate action.

Cities are increasingly reporting that they are powered by renewable electricity. CDP holds information from over 570 of the world's cities and over 100 cities are now getting at least 70% of their electricity from renewable sources such as hydro, geothermal, solar and wind.

This dataset has been compiled of data reported by cities in 2015, 2016 and 2017 in response to our annual questionnaire. Cities responded to the question: "Please indicate the energy mix of your electricity consumed at the city-wide scale."
